18 Tripura children rescued from Bihar
Eighteen tribal students were rescued from a Buddhist school in Bihar by the Bihar police and brought here, a Tripura Minister said on Saturday. The children, belonging to the Mog and Chakma communities of Pencharthal in North Tripura district, were sent by their families for studies to Bodh Gaya, but the school was shut down two months ago without any information to the parents, Health and Family Welfare Minister Sudip Roy Barman said. “The Department of Tribal Welfare will ask the Bihar government for a proper investigation. We don’t want any child to go to other States without the knowledge of the government. It is an eye-opener for all of us,” he told reporters.Tripura State Child Welfare Society chairperson Nilima Ghosh said she had found marks of torture on the bodies of the children.
