The number of Russian subscribers to HD services grew tenfold over the last year, contributing to a 10% increase in ARPU for pay TV operators, according to research by Telecomdaily.According to the study, the number of HD subscribers grew from 400,000 to four million by the end of May, when subscribers to digital TV services in the country had access to an average of six HD channels.ER-Telecom’s Dom.ru was the leader in terms of HD channels, with 41 services, followed by VimpelCom with 36 and Tricolor TV with 25.

Online video site Vimeo has signed deals with seven new content distribution partners in a move that will up its Vimeo On Demand library across a number of genres. Among the new partners are: BFS Entertainment & Multimedia, which offers programming including classic dramas, mystery, comedy, sports, documentaries and health and wellness content; Drafthouse Films, the film distribution arm of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema; and lifestyle media firm Gaiam, which will provide 12 new releases per year in the yoga and fitness category, and 48 titles per year in the conscious media, health and wellness categories.The other partners are: independent film distributor Gravitas Ventures; film producer and distributer Inception Media Group; global TV distributer feature film producer MarVista Digital Entertainment; and extreme sports films distributer X-Treme Video.“Vimeo empowers professional creators with our open platform to distribute content directly to audiences worldwide by offering total control and better economics.
