Interior standard features include first-class leather seats with a 4.5-foot tall cabin to offer more headroom than typical helicopter aircraft. Special equipment allows for extended over-water flight, transportation of external cargo and hoist operations. The four-bladed, midsized helicopter is designed for use in a variety of roles incorporating high performance and long-range versatility.The S-76B is powered by two Pratt and Whitney of Canada PT6B-36 engines, which extend the capabilities and advantages of the aircraft for operations requiring hot temperatures and high altitudes, or greater single-engine performance capabilities. These engines provide an increase of 491 shaft horsepower (dual-engine), 320 horsepower (minimum, single-engine), and a gross weight of 11,700 pounds (5,307 kg). The free turbine, turboshaft engine rates at 1,033 shaft horsepower.A full-authority, dual-channel fuel control is provided in the S-76B. It consists of a fuel-metering unit (FMU) and two electronic engine control (EEC) units. The EEC units and harnesses are fully lightning protected. The control provides governing of the output speed and automatically limits torque speed. Torque or temperature equalizing is provided for dual-engine operation.The heating and ventilation system consists of engine bleed-air valves, a blower, sound suppressor, cabin and cockpit ducting, temperature sensors and a cockpit heating and ventilation controls. Engine bleed air mixes without ambient air for cabin and cockpit heating at the desired flow and temperature selected by the pilot. Ventilation is accomplished by using a blower to direct outside air through the cabin and cockpit ducting. Flap valves in the cockpit canopy can be manually opened to provide additional ventilation using outside ram air.Looking ahead, Adam Katz will continue to grow Talon Air, Inc. with the October launch of his brand new 2008 135-foot, 6-bedroom, 5-bath, Italian-style Serqué yacht.
